How Disney’s DAS Pass Works: The Ultimate Guide for Inclusive & Accessible Family Travel

Planning a Disney vacation is exciting — but for families with sensory, cognitive, or developmental needs, the magic can feel overwhelming. Long lines, unpredictable waits, and crowded spaces can quickly lead to stress or sensory overload.

That’s exactly why Disney created the Disability Access Service (DAS). As a Certified Autism Travel Professional, autism mom, and inclusive travel consultant, I’ve helped countless families navigate DAS at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. This guide breaks down how it works, who qualifies, and how to make the most of Disney’s many accessibility benefits.

What Is Disney’s DAS Pass?

The Disability Access Service (DAS) is designed for guests who have difficulty waiting in traditional queues due to a developmental disability, such as autism or sensory processing disorder.

DAS does not skip the line. Instead, it allows you to:

  • Schedule a return time equal to the current standby wait

  • Enjoy other attractions, shows, or quiet spaces while you wait

  • Reduce sensory overload, anxiety, and long periods in crowded queues

This simple change can transform the entire park experience for neurodivergent guests and their families.

Who Qualifies for DAS?

DAS is intended for guests who:

  • Cannot tolerate extended waits in a standard queue due to cognitive, sensory, or developmental disabilities

  • May experience anxiety, meltdowns, or physical discomfort in crowded or unpredictable environments

Important: DAS is not issued for mobility-only needs (such as wheelchair use). Disney already provides accessible entrances and accommodations for mobility devices.

How to Register for DAS

Disney offers two ways to register, and both are straightforward.

Option 1: Pre-Register Online (Highly Recommended)

  • Available 60 days before your visit

  • Speak with a Cast Member via live video chat

  • No diagnosis required — simply explain the guest’s needs

  • Link your tickets and pre-select two DAS Advance attractions per day

Option 2: Register In-Person

  • Visit Guest Relations inside the park

  • The DAS guest must be present

  • A photo will be taken for the DAS profile

  • DAS is valid for the length of your ticket (or up to one year for Annual Passholders)

How to Use DAS in the Parks

Once DAS is added to your profile:

  • Use the My Disney Experience app (Walt Disney World) or Disneyland app to request return times

  • Or ask a Cast Member at Guest Relations or Guest Experience kiosks

  • You’ll receive a return time equal to the current standby wait

  • You can only hold one active DAS return time at a time

  • Return times are valid until the attraction closes

Bonus: You can still use Lightning Lane alongside DAS for even more flexibility.
